The 2021 Meeting of the European Meteorological Society (EMS) will take place as an online event from 3rd to 10th September. Our data scientist Fabrizio Ruffini will participate on behalf of i-EM reporting the work on solar power nowcast, to answer the new needs of the energy players.
Our lightning talk will be Friday, 10 Sep, from 14:45. Precious minutes to present the work described in the article “Hybrid nowcasting for solar power plants using satellite-data and Numerical Weather Predictions for (Deep) Machine Learning methods“. This article discusses a hybrid solar nowcasting system, predicting energy production from +15 minutes to 3 hours ahead, with a time granularity of 15 minutes. The system combines observed data (especially from satellite) and Numerical Weather Predictions to nowcast data.
Two of the i-EM data scientist, Michela Moschella and Antonio Piazzi, collaborated with Fabrizio Ruffini on this result.
